Peterson Regional Medical Center Foundation
What is Celebrity Chef and Legacy Gala?

From 1999-2012, the Office of Development of Peterson Regional Medical Center has worked with the Board and Volunteers of Peterson Regional Medical Center Foundation (formerly Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital Foundation) to develop and implement a number of special events designed to raise friends and funds.

Over $450,000 in net proceeds has been raised from these special events and funds have been focused on areas such as: Palliative Care, Women’s Health Unit, Acute Rehabilitation Unit, Cardiac Cath Lab, the New Hospital project and the Ambulatory Care Center.

Initially, in 1999 and 2000, the theme of “Around the Range” was used as the branding for the event.  In 2001, the brand focus of “Celebrity Chef” was adopted and utilized from 2002 – 2006.  In 2009, in order to tie into the 60th Anniversary of the Hospital, a new logo and name was adopted, Legacy Gala.

The organization of each fund raising event has included a cooking school and a gala evening with a different theme used each year dependent on the respective celebrity chef selected.

Various marketing and promotional tools have been used to assist in publicity for the event as well as the “sale” of sponsorship and tickets to financially support the event.  “Save the date” cards, pre-event sponsorship solicitation packages, and community media activities have been a part of this process.

The success of these events can be measured not only in the dollars raised, but also, in the number of new donors that have been identified and cultivated for the Hospital.  Many of these donors have become major donors to the Family, Friends & Neighbors Campaign for the new Hospital project as well as our new Pioneer Program and Campaign for da Vinci Surgery.

Legacy Gala 2012 will be another memorable event on the dates of March 29 & 31, 2012.
